After the first game today, most of the fans would have expected or rather hoped this one to be a goal-fest. But for those this was a disappointing game again. With Germany and Australia playing later tonight, both teams were coming on the field with a win on their mind. Playing Germany and Australia after this game would mean, these two teams would try to get all 3 points in this game and breathe a sigh of relief, at least till the next game.
From the kick-off, Ghana looked more attacking and Serbia, who were depending on Zigic for goals, looked slightly on the back-foot. Just 25 minutes gone, Zigic from Serbia and Vorsah from Ghana were handed yellow cards. But apart from that the first half a bit uneventful.
After the break, there was a bit of urgency in the game but with no outcome. On 54th minute Serbian Defender Lukovic was handed yellow for a rough tackle. Again after 20 minutes he received another yellow card for pulling down Asamoah by his shirt. He was sent off and Serbia looked more vulnerable. Serbia then made a tactical change by replacing Striker Jovanovic, who recently joined Liverpool, with defender Subotic.
The game then went into final 10 minutes and Serbia handed, literally, a penalty to Ghana. Serbian player Kuzmanovic handled the ball while trying to clear the ball with his head. Asamoah was not going to miss this chance and calmly converted the penalty for Ghana. Its definitely not easy to hold onto the lead in dying moments of the game but Ghana held onto it and emerged winners . These 3 points will be very crucial for Ghana in the end it seems but a lot depends on the game of Germany against Australia. Good luck for both the teams. Lets hope the games get more interesting from now on.
